The Islamic Republic of Iran is among the countries that have sent representatives to the competition.
Zahra Abbasi, a memorizer of the entire Quran who studies Arabic language and literature at the University of Tehran, is representing Iran in the Quranic event.
The Al-Hashimiya international Quran contest will run through February 22, according to Ali al-Daqamisa, the spokesman for Jordan’s Awqaf ministry.
Winners will be named and awarded at the closing ceremony on Thursday, he noted.

The competition is annually organized by Jordan’s Awqaf ministry with the participation of female Quran memorizers from different countries.
Last year, Roya Fazaeli represented Iran in the 17th edition and achieved no rank despite her high readiness.
